If 2020 was the year of the pandemic then, 2021 was the year of reunions. I was extremely fortunate to photograph a family with 3 generations of adults. Not only were they separated because of the pandemic, but they realized it had been 20 years since their last professional family photo!

Sidebar: the 21 year old grandson did not want to recreate the original picture with him sitting on his Paw-Paw’s lap - I asked.

To say that it was an honor that they chose me to be their photographer is only scratching the surface of my gratitude. Being in the presence of this tightly bonded family was my privilege!

I love providing the VIP treatment to all my clients, especially our seasoned elders. Oftentimes, they haven’t experienced being a pampered model for the day. I love hearing the giggle of a grandmother when she looks at the back of my camera in disbelief at how g-o-o-d she looks. But in this case, it was Paw-Paw during their reveal appointment!

Being with this family filled my soul. It began with posing the grandparents together and having him whisper in her ear something that would make her blush. I watched as the sisters fussed over their dad. I watched as the matriarch beamed over her family. I watched as Paw-Paw proudly admire the man that his grandson has become. I felt the warmth of their togetherness during their ENTIRE session and was constantly reminded… there’s no better feeling than being together.
